monday magic

I want to make Mondays a little more magical.

Monday mornings are often seen as the slog of the week: getting back into work, finding the rhythm, remembering where you were (or who you were, if the weekend took you out).

Which is why I want to find a way to add a little sizzle and spice to my Mondays again.

That’s why I'm calling this newsletter Monday Magic. Every Monday, I'll send you a small mindset insight to help make the day a little sweeter. The goal is to create something to help us look forward to the start of the week.

When I look at my todo list and goals, I ask myself:

How can I make my life a little better today?

And if I'm feeling even more audacious, the question becomes:

What, if I do it today, will improve my life today and tomorrow?

For me, I've added an accountability group, a writing group, and weekly connection events to make the weeks better. You're invited to join me, of course!

Every Monday, I host an accountability group at 11am eastern (8am pacific). We log on, say hello to each other, and kick off the week by coworking. For a few minutes, we connect to our deeper goals, reflect on the past week, and then we make forward momentum on our most important work. If you need a place to check-in and you love the ritual of being around other people, there are 8 spaces to join my Monday morning accountability crew starting in September. Apply here.

Our Writing Club is off to a strong start! We're one month in. If you’re looking for a place to get your butt into the chair and focus on your writing work, it can be very powerful to be a part of a group. Apply to join us! Our next group starts September 14th. We meet Mondays at 1pm Eastern.

And on Wednesday, I’m hosting a session on female friendship, where we’ll be talking about the ten types of people we need in our lives, and how we show up for each other even when going through it. Every other Wednesday I'm hosting a Wise Women's Salon throughout September. Drop in and join us for connection, conversation, and thoughtful reflection. Find all the events here.

This week’s idea:

What’s something you do on a regular basis to make your week better? Hit reply and tell me!

Be brave and be kind.

Weekly Notes

Comedy is a human relief button

I’ve been reading Molly Shannon’s memoir, Hello, Molly! A Memoir. When she was very young, her father fell asleep at the wheel of a car and the accident killed her mother and sister. She grapples with his injuries, their devastation, and the role she played in growing up too young. The more I get to know people, the more I realize how much people live through. These big lives, full of darkness, are part of what connects us. Some of the funniest people have the deepest wells of grief. It’s okay to put a Netflix stand-up comedy show on and laugh through your tears. And we all need more places to be real, to cry, and to tell the truth.

Between us (this is personal)

I’ve finally started journaling again. It took a long time. Kind of like a personal blog? I’m not sure what it will become yet. I’ve been posting poetry, cooking notes, and old-school blogs. I'm writing about depression, anti-internet advice, not performing fine, and how I managed to start journaling again.

Work Together

The Wise Women's Council. A year-long council for a small group of women to really dig in to the questions that matter: what's next? how can I build towards my dreams? What's mine, and what do I need to change? Apply to join the October cohort.

This week's idea:

Find something small to make your day a little bit better. From wherever you are, whoever you are, tiny actions do compound. We start small, from where we are.

Reply and tell me something you’re doing to make your day a little better.
